An internal panel of suitable applicants may be set up to fill vacancies which may occur within a specific time period (four months for teacher posts and the duration of the school year for SNA posts) from the date on which the Board approves the successful candidate.
Additional Information:
Applications are invited for the post of Deputy Principal in Ballycroneen National School, Cloyne, Co. Cork.

Ballycroneen N.S. is a mixed primary school. The school has a Catholic Ethos and is under the patronage of the Bishop of Cloyne. The successful candidate must have a recognised qualification to teach Religious Education and a commitment to supporting the Catholic ethos of the school.

The current teaching staff comprises of 3 Mainstream Class Teachers, 1 Special Education Teacher and 1 S.N.A.

Applicants must comply with the eligibility criteria for Deputy Principal as set out in Circular 44/2019 from the Department of Education:

*Be fully registered with the Teaching Council under Route 1 (Primary)
*To qualify for appointment, candidates must have a minimum of 5 years whole-time teaching experience, two of which must be in a recognised primary school within the Republic of Ireland.

The roles and responsibilities for the post of Deputy Principal Teacher are determined by the four Domains of Leadership and Management as specified in Chapter 4 of Circular 0044/2019:

1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity

In addition the following skills, knowledge and experience are desirable:

-The ability to promote a culture of learning, creativity and teamwork in school.

-Previous experience in a school leadership role.

-Ability to exercise flexibility and full involvement in the school, in partnership with and under the direction of the Principal, to meet the daily needs of the school.

-Previous teaching experience across a wide range of classes, and settings in primary school.

-Proven leadership skills, including policy development and implementation.

-An understanding of School Self-Evaluation (SSE) policy development and implementation.

-Evidence of Continuous Professional Development in leadership and education.

-Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work well with all staff and the wider school community.

-Excellent communication skills expressed both in leadership and management.

-Supporting and implementing school wide initiatives

The Deputy Principal will work with the Principal to support and develop effective leadership within the school. The Deputy Principal co-operates with the Principal in the fulfillment of the Principal's role and acts or deputises as the Principal in the Principal's absence.

The roles and responsibilities of this post are subject to review and change according to procedures set out in Circular 44/19. The responsibilities of the role will require participation in the leadership role outside the standard school day and outside of the standard school year.
